Web Mapping is the process of designing, implementing, generating and delivering maps on the World Wide Web. Maps can range from simple images to fully interactive Google Maps with data pulled from databases and managed through a content management system such as Drupal.
One of our recent web-mapping efforts involves developing the Geobrowser module for the Drupal content management system. It's first implementation is with Common Ground Mapping Project's on-line Green Map. Click on the image to left to visit the site.
Web GIS is similar to web mapping but with an emphasis on analysis, processing of project specific geodata, and exploratory aspects. We build solutions using open source tools such as Mapserver and UDig to give clients secure access to their spatial data.
Selected Portfolio

UVic Community Green Map
The University of Victoria Community Green Map project provides a participatory mapping and planning system to facilitate innovative and sustainable development at UVic.

Greater Victoria Green Map
The Greater Victoria GreenMap shows sites of rich ecological and social value in and around Victoria BC as identified through community input and discussion. It is the first implementation of the Geobrowser Module
Local Food Directory
The Local Food Directory is an inactive map / directory of local food in BC produced in partnership between the 100 Mile Diet and LifeCycles. This project also involved some true-cost economic analysis. MapsWest did an in-depth review and compilation of the literature surrounding the economic externalities of food transportation.
